This is sometimes construed in the sense "the Ports of New York and New Jersey". aboard his one-person sailboat, Everest Horizontal. He and 13 other sailors are competing in Around Alone, an eight-month, 28,800-mile race around the world (see Sept. 20, 2002, and Dec. 13, 2002, issues of JS).
Tim is now on the final leg of the race--from Salvador, Brazil, to Newport, Rhode Island Newport is a city in Newport County, Rhode Island, United States, about 30 miles (48 km) south of Providence. It is the home of Naval Station Newport, housing the United States Naval War College, the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, and a major United States Navy training center. .
