Aromatics Oman completes plant performance test run.

SOHAR: Aromatics Oman LLC (AOL) has successfully completed the plant performance test run and has achieved all the guarantees with the process licensor, Axens Technology of France, and the EPC contractor, GS Engineering and Construction from South Korea.

The plant performance guarantee test run, which started last week, was successfully completed on Thursday, where all units of AOL operated at 100 per cent capacity. This has demonstrated the ability of plant to be operated at its full capacity in its present design, and produce on spec paraxylene and benzene, besides liquefied petroleum gas liquefied petroleum gas or LPG, mixture of gases, chiefly propane and butane, produced commercially from petroleum and stored under pressure to keep it in a liquid state. , light naphtha naphtha (năp`thə, năf`–), term usually restricted to a class of colorless, volatile, flammable liquid hydrocarbon mixtures. , raffinate raf·fi·nate

AOL started exporting its products from the complex in September 2009 and the first cargo of paraxylene and benzene were exported on December 24 and December 30, 2009,

AOL is a joint venture between Oman Oil Company Oman Oil Company (OOC) is a commercial company 100 % owned by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman. The company was created in 1992 to give the Government a vehicle for pursuing investment opportunities in the energy sector both inside and outside Oman.  (70 per cent), Oman Refineries and Petrochemicals Company (20 per cent) and LG International, Korea (10 per cent). AOL started construction of the plant

in 2006 and had entered the commissioning phase in mid-2009.
