GOVERNOR Arnold Schwarzenegger Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger (German pronunciation (IPA): [ˈaɐ̯nɔlt ˈaloɪ̯s ˈʃvaɐ̯ʦənˌʔɛɡɐ]  offered a pounds 60,000 reward last night to find an arsonist who burned down 241 square miles of California forest, killing two firefighters.

The pair died when their fire engine plunged 800ft down a mountain as they tried to escape the blaze.

Five thousand firemen battled for 11 days to bring the blaze under control. Four were taken to hospital with breathing problems and one as still being treated last night.

The blaze is estimated to have caused damage estimated at pounds 22million. More than 70 homes have been destroyed.
