Army publishes major revision to Logistics Readiness and Sustainability regulation (March 26, 2004).


The revised Department of the Army Regulation 700-138, Army Logistics Readiness and Sustainability establishes policies, responsibilities, and procedures to be followed for reporting the physical condition of Army equipment and the ability/inability to perform its intended mission. This revision implements Department of Defense Instruction 3110.5, and it prescribes policies and procedures Policies and Procedures are a set of documents that describe an organization's policies for operation and the procedures necessary to fulfill the policies. They are often initiated because of some external requirement, such as environmental compliance or other governmental  for total logistics readiness sustainability analysis, the annual logistics assessment of the Army's capability to deploy and sustain combat forces.
