Army buys more Oshkosh HEMTTs.


OSHKOSH, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 1996--Oshkosh Truck Corporation (NASDAQ-OTRKB) announced today that the U.S. Army has purchased 72 additional vehicles as a supplement to an existing contract for Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks. This purchase is valued at $9.4 million and will extend production under the HEMTT HEMTT Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck  contract through September 1996. These vehicles have been purchased by Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia (sä`dē ərā`bēə, sou`–, sô–), officially Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, kingdom (2005 est. pop.  under a Foreign Military Sales That portion of United States security assistance authorized by the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, and the Arms Export Control Act of 1976, as amended. This assistance differs from the Military Assistance Program and the International Military Education and Training Program  (FMS FMS - Flexible Manufacturing System (factory automation). ) case.

The company has produced more than 14,400 of the eight-wheel-drive, ten-ton capacity HEMTTs which are considered the backbone of the U.S. Army's heavy-duty truck fleet. This contract is one of several military programs in place at Oshkosh Truck Oshkosh Truck NYSE: OSK, is a manufacturer of specialty trucks and truck bodies for defense, industrial and fire emergency applications.
