Army Corps of Engineers Seeks Public Comments On Proposed Lease of Grapevine Lake Parks.

The Corps is seeking comments from the public about the proposed lease.

The city of Grapevine has leased portions of these parks for many years and has done an excellent job of maintaining the areas. Initially, the city proposes to lease the additional park lands for a period of six months to allow a smooth transition from Corps to city management. At the end of the six-month lease, the city plans to renew the lease for a 25-year term.

As part of the proposed lease, the city of Grapevine would assume from the Corps the operation and maintenance of the facilities associated with the park lands. These facilities include the 71-site camping area in Silver Lake Park, 63 picnic sites in Oak Grove Park, 26 picnic sites in Meadowmere Park, ten boat ramps, and other facilities such as playgrounds, park entrance buildings and restrooms. The Corps would maintain direct responsibility for all private boat docks located in the lease areas, and the city would provide free access for visitors to the private boathouses as well as to Paradise Cove and the model airplane airplane, aeroplane, or aircraft, heavier-than-air vehicle, mechanically driven and fitted with fixed wings that support it in flight through the dynamic action of the air.  field. Corps-issued annual day use passes and campsite reservations would be honored through Dec. 31, 2002.

Lease conditions would require the city to apply any revenue generated through user fees at the park lands to operating, maintaining and improving the park areas. The lease is proposed to become effective Oct. 1, 2002.
