Arms Control and the Environment.

Lakshman D. Guruswamy and Suzette R. Grillot. Ardsley, New York: Transnational Publishing, Inc., 2001. (914) 693-5100. 282 pp. $115.00 Hardbound.

Arms Control and the Environment addresses the issue of weapons as a large and growing part of the global economy, and the environmental dangers that weapons cause. Included in Arms and the Environment are analyses of the relationship between arms control and the environment by professionals in related fields, such as international peacekeeping and defense procurement, representatives of concerned nongovernmental organizations, and academics in the natural sciences, law, and political science. Solutions are also offered, with the stated purpose of finding ways to adapt and implement existing arms control measures in a way that lessens environmental harm.

Lakshman Guruswamy is Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Professor of Law and Director of the National Energy-Environment Law and Policy Institute at the University of Tulsa. Suzette Grillot is Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Academic Programs at the University of Oklahoma.
