ArmorWorks Scientist Serves as Chair on Blast Mitigation.


Dr. Ken-An Lou Selected to Chair Solid Materials Symposium

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Dr. Ken-An Lou, Chief Scientist at ArmorWorks, has been selected to chair a session of the 2007 Solid Mechanics Solid mechanics is the branch of physics and mathematics that concerns the behavior of solid matter under external actions (e.g., external forces, temperature changes, applied displacements, etc.). It is part of a broader study known as continuum mechanics.  Symposium. This yearly convention, hosted by the U.S. Army and Battelle, joins the private sector and the U.S. Military to discuss key vulnerabilities facing the Military. Dr. Lou will chair the session concerning mine blast, a critical concern of the Military.

Dr. Lou has immense knowledge regarding mine blast protection. In connection with his work, ArmorWorks has won several Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR SBIR Small Business Innovation Research (program/grant)

) grants related to mine blast mitigation and has developed innovative solutions including a mine blast attenuating crew seat system and a lightweight fasting system to attach blast protection kits to military vehicles Military vehicles include all land combat and transportation vehicles, excluding rail-based, which are designed for or are in significant use by military forces.

Most recently, Dr. Lou has been involved with an SBIR grant awarded to ArmorWorks by the United States Air Force United States Air Force (USAF)
