Armed menhit store; ROBBERY: Gang takes cash.

MASKED men armed with a knife, a machete and a crowbar stormed into a Coventry supermarket yesterday.

The gang, who all had their faces covered, ran into Farmfoods in Jardine Crescent, Tile Hill Tile Hill is a suburb in the west of Coventry. The railway line linking Rugby, Coventry and Birmingham goes through Tile Hill, and Tile Hill railway station is within Tile Hill near its eastern border with Solihull.  at 6.15am. They fled with a large quantity of cash.

The store was closed to the public at the time of the raid.

 were inside the frozen food supermarket at the time, while they handled a delivery.

It is understood that the gang entered the store through a delivery door.

The robbers threatened the two members of staff and forced them to hand over a "large quantity of cash" before they fled the store.

It is believed they left on foot and no vehicle was used during the robbery.

Only limited descriptions are available of the robbers at this stage.

Detectives at Little Park Street police station are investigating the robbery and are appealing for witnesses or those with information to come forward.
