Armed gang target cashpoint delivery.

AN ARMED gang is believed to have been lain in wait before ambushing a security firm employee as he delivered cash to fill ATM machines in Warwickshire early today.

The victim arrived to fill the machines at the Tesco supermarket in Leicester Road The Leicester Road Ground is a cricket stadium based in the town of Hinckley, Leicestershire. It has, in the past, been used by Leicestershire as an outground and has held 11 first class games in total. , Rugby, when the attack happened at about 8am.

He parked up alongside the machines and had taken the cash out of his van when he was threatened by three men all wearing balaclavas.

One of the men said he had a firearm. The victim handed over the cash and the three men drove off at speed to Leicester Road roundabout.

A Warwickshire Police Warwickshire Police is the Home Office police force responsible for policing Warwickshire in England. It was known as Warwickshire Constabulary until 2001. It is the second smallest territorial police force in the United Kingdom after the City of London Police, with only  spokeswoman said no shots were fired and no-one was hurt in the incident.

The robbers escaped in a white car but it is not yet known which direction they drove off in.

The spokeswoman said: "The incident happened at 8am and obviously Leicester Road is always busy at that time with people driving to work or doing the school run.

"There are people who must have seen the car driving off at speed and we would appeal to anyone with information to contact us."
