Armed Forces sign defence deals worth Dh3b.

Abu Dhabi: The UAE Armed Forces on MondayAasigned several arms deals worth over Dh3 billion, including a contract with Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding Company for the supply of 12 combat vessels at a value of Dh771.1 million and to upgrade another 12 combat vessels at costing Dh164.3 million. The full contract was valued at Dh935.4 million.

A Dh892.8-million deal was also sealed with Euro-Art International for the purchase of three Cobra radars.

France's Thales won one contract for signal systems at Dh156.8 million and another to develop a SOTAS SOTAS Standoff Target Acquisition & Surveillance

 communication system for Leclerc tanks for Dh172.8 million. The two contracts amounted to Dh329.6 million.

The UAE IGG has been awarded a Dh64.3-million contract for laser targeted designator sets.

The local Saqr for Trade and Technical Services won two contracts worth Dh59 million for provision of light weapons DSR-50 and M7-5.56.

A Dh192.2-million deal was signed with the US Harris RF Corporation for communications sets.

The UAE is in the process of signing a deal with Agusta Company of Italy for two AW139 AGUSTA WESTLAND helicopters for VIPs at a value of Dh95.8 million.

The Boeing Company of the US won a Dh373.4 million deal for the provision of spare parts and land equipment for Chinook Chinook, indigenous people of North America
