), Super Chevy Magazine and Route 66 Motorsports unveiled the much anticipated second installment of Project American Heroes at the Super Chevy automotive show in Joliet, Illinois The city of Joliet is located 40 miles southwest of Chicago. It holds the county seat of Will County and is also incorporated in Kendall County. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 106,221.  on Saturday, August 9th, 2008. This year's Project American Heroes featured the building of a 1969 RS/SS RS/SS Rally Sport/Super Sport (Chevrolet Camaro model)  Camaro, made possible thanks to the generous donations of 30 companies across the country. The car will be auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction in Palm Beach, Florida Palm Beach is an incorporated town in Palm Beach County, Florida. The Intracoastal Waterway separates it from the neighboring cities of West Palm Beach and Lake Worth. As of 2000, Palm Beach had a year-round population of 10,468, with an estimated seasonal population of 30,000. , in April of 2009. The car's proceeds will be donated to the Armed Forces Foundation, who will use the money to assist military families struggling through difficult financial times.

"As an organization we strive to provide our nation's Service Members with the best possible support, and this refurbished classic along with the funds raised from it, will undoubtedly be a huge help to military families struggling through difficult times."

The first installment of Project American Heroes featured the construction of a 1957 Chevrolet convertible; which was unveiled at the Armed Forces Foundation's 2008 Congressional Gala in March of 2008. Later that month the car was auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction, and sold for $130,000, with proceeds going to the Armed Forces Foundation. This year's installment hopes to generate even more funds, and help support military families suffering through difficult times.

The construction of the latest Project American Heroes installment was completed in 118 days. Bill Jillinchiek and his team at Route 66 Motorsports worked tirelessly to build the '69 Camaro from scratch, and it received a rousing ovation at the auto show An auto show, or motor show, is a public exhibition of current automobile models, debuts, concept cars, or out-of-production classics. It is commonly attended by automobile manufacturers. Most auto shows occur once or twice a year.  in Joliet, IL.

"We were so excited to have this extraordinary opportunity. This build was not easy but it is rewarding. I am so glad that my son, my team, and I were able to use our shop as a means of constructing this incredible car which will help bring support to America's heroes and their families," said Jillinchiek.

Project American Heroes began last summer when the team of Super Chevy magazine united with a few sponsors to rebuild a classic car that would be auctioned off with the proceeds supporting families of the military. This year, Detroit Speed & Engineering, Classic Industries, and Route 66 Motorsports were just a few of over 40 sponsors that sent their top-of-the-line aftermarket Aftermarket

 car parts to help build this one-of-a-kind Chevy Camaro. The Armed Forces Foundation helped inform military personnel to help select the design for the vehicle including the color scheme, interior design and exterior trim via the Project American Heroes Web site (www.projectamericanheroes.net). Super Chevy Magazine featured the project in several issues of its magazine, distributed nationally.
