Arkeia Presents Linux Data Protection Solutions for Silicon Graphics Altix Servers at Oracle OpenWorld Conference.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Arkeia Corp. will showcase its flagship Linux-based data protection solution for the SGI(R) Altix(R) family of servers in the SGI exhibit at Oracle OpenWorld, Booth #414 here this week.

Arkeia and SGI are cooperating on marketing programs designed to support enterprise network backup applications for SGI systems based on industry-standard technologies and components, such as the Altix server using Intel(R) Itanium(R) 2 processors and a choice of standard Linux distributions.

Arkeia Network Backup features increased 64-bit Linux support with packages for Intel Itanium 2 and AMD Opteron(TM) as well as support of Kernel 2.6 Linux distributions. Arkeia also offers a tightly integrated solution for online Oracle database backup.

In addition, Arkeia v5.3 supports NDMP network-attached storage (NAS) devices and Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS) technology embedded in Windows(R) 2003 servers, while incorporating enhancements to existing elements of the scalable data protection solution for heterogeneous environments.
