Arkados Awarded Patent for Maximizing Data Throughput Rate in Powerline Communications Systems.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Arkados (OTC BB: AKDS), known as "the HomePlug([R]) Applications Company," announced today that it has been awarded a US patent for a "Method and System for Maximizing Data Throughput Rate in a Power Line Communications System By Modifying Payload Symbol Length." The US Patent Office awarded the Company Patent Number 7,193,506 on March 20, 2007.

Oleg Logvinov, president and CEO of Arkados, said, "This is an important milestone in three significant ways. First, it demonstrates that the Arkados engineering team continues to demonstrate top-notch foresight in the development of the powerline communication technologies for this emerging market.

"Second, this patent adds to a valuable portfolio of intellectual property that is critical to the development of interoperable standards and positioning of the company as a leader in the space. Leadership in the high-tech field demands constant proof that a company is actually on the cutting edge of technology, and this patent underscores that fact.

"Third, this patent covers systems and methods that compute a payload symbol length based on data from measurements of the quality of the communications channel and/or the configuration of nodes. By addressing the issue of maximizing data throughput rate at such a fundamental level, we have patented an approach that makes alternative technologies less attractive from the standpoint of efficiency and cost."
