Arkados Announces Dr. J. C. Stoffel Named IEEE Fellow & Recipient of Management Award.PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Arkados (OTCBB:AKDS), known as "the HomePlug([R]) Applications Company," announced today that the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) named Dr. J. C. Stoffel a Fellow of the Society. The IEEE Fellow is one of the most prestigious honors of the IEEE, and is bestowed upon a very limited number of Senior Members who have made outstanding contributions to the electrical and information technologies and sciences for the benefit of humanity and the profession. In February, the IEEE also honored Stoffel with their Management Award for leadership. Stoffel is recognized "for technical leadership in the development of imaging systems" with a number of technologies in multiple application areas. He holds over 28 US patents, numerous foreign patents, and is the author/editor of a graduate reference text, Binary Image Processing and Applications. The IEEE Management Award recognizes his management of multiple very large organizations and significant digital technology transitions at Xerox and Kodak. Stoffel retired from Eastman Kodak in 2005 where he was "Kodak's first Digital CTO" and served as Sr. Vice President, Director of R&D worldwide, and Chief Technical Officer during his approximately eight years with the company. In addition, Jim spent over 20 years with Xerox Corporation serving in numerous leadership roles, including VP Corporate Research & Technology and VP and General Manager Advanced Imaging Business Unit. Most recently, he served as Chairman and Acting CEO of ASTER Wireless, Inc., which was acquired last week by Arkados. With the completion of the acquisition, Stoffel has joined Arkados Group's Technical and Business Advisory Panel. In addition, he serves on the boards of Harris Corporation, Melbourne FL; HSTX Networks, Raleigh Durham, NC; and the Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), Hong Kong's lead technology and IP development institution. He is also on the Research and Graduate Studies Advisory Council of the University of Notre Dame and served as Chairman of the Board of the Information Technology Industry Council, Washington DC, until December 2006.
