The win was a major upset for the Sun Devils

There was some controversy on the final play when Cobos' hit crossed just in front of Crenshaw near shortstop Breanne Sabol and the Ducks argued for runner interference.

`We battled for nine innings, and I didn't think it should have ended this way,' Oregon coach Kathy Arendsen said. `But we've got to start putting runs on the board to avoid this situation.'

The Ducks did have their chances, getting nine hits off of Arizona State's Desiree Serrano (16-9), who went the distance, striking out seven and walking none.

The victory boosted the Titans to 27-10 overall and 19-5 in the Southern Region. Lane entered Saturday's games tied with Mount Hood for first, but the Saints (21-11, 17-7) were swept in a doubleheader by Linn-Benton.

Phil Ouellette was 2-for-3 with a two-run single in the first game, while Sam Kirby went 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the second game.

STANFORD, Calif. - On an up-and-down day, the University of Oregon women's golf team had its best performance at the NCAA West Regional since finishing seventh in 2000, but missed out on a trip to the NCAA Championships when Texas won a three-team playoff for the final berth.

Johnna Nealy birdied her next-to-last hole to lift the Ducks into a tie for eighth with Washington State and the Longhorns.

Texas won on the first playoff hole at the par-72, 6,159-yard Stanford Golf Course.

VANCOUVER, Wash. - The University of Washington's crew teams swept Oregon State in 12 duals at Vancouver Lake on Saturday.

The closest women's race of the day was when the Huskies' novice eight beat the Beavers by less than two seconds.

On the men's side, Washington's varsity eight team beat OSU by just five seconds.
