Arizona Fast Foods Acquires 41 Whataburger, Inc. Stores In Phoenix, Tucson, Scottsdale, Tempe And Other Arizona Markets.


PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 1996--In one of the largest transactions in the history of Whataburger, Inc., Arizona Fast Foods, L.L.C., a limited liability corporation headed by Paul K. Cohen cohen

Three of the restaurants are located in The America West Arena in Phoenix, Ariz. The acquisition also includes Whataburger restaurants in Litchfield, Glendale, Tempe, Tucson, Casa Grande Casa Grande (kä`sä grän`dā), city (1990 pop. 19,082), Pinal co., S Ariz.; inc. 1915. It lies in an irrigated farm area near the Casa Grande Mts. , Mesa, Prescott, Peoria, Avondale, Apache Junction, Chandler, and Scottsdale.

The acquisition makes Arizona Fast Foods, L.L.C., the largest franchisee of Whataburger restaurants in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  with more than 1,100 employees and 1996 revenues projected to be approximately $30 million. According to Cohen of Arizona Fast Foods, L.L.C., "The Arizona market is a very exciting one with great growth potential.

There's tremendous customer loyalty to Whataburger, and that loyalty has been earned over a 30 plus year period.

Cohen was president of the successful Whataburger franchise in El Paso, Texas when he learned of the opportunity to acquire the Arizona stores, as well as the franchise development rights for the entire state of Arizona.

"Our plans are to add 50 more Whataburger restaurants throughout the state," says Cohen. "The customer demand for a great, made-to-order burger has never been better."
