Arizona Entrepreneur of the Year Award Recipients Announced At June 27 Gala.
PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 27, 2000
"If you can dream it, if you can see it, you can do it. Don't give up!" is a motto that has led Phoenix resident Kim Komando to become one of the area's most successful entrepreneurs. Co-founder of WestStar Talk Radio Network, with Valley radio personality Barry Young, Kim has risen to radio talk show stardom through her ambition, energy and business savvy. In just under five years, she has become the host of one of Talkers Magazine's top 10 radio shows, The Kim Komando Radio Talk Show, the world's largest daily and weekly talk radio show about computers and the Internet. Based in Phoenix, the show is broadcast in over four continents, carried by more than 350 American radio stations and is a syndicated column in more than 100 newspapers, reaching over 50 million people per month.
Affectionately dubbed the "Digital Goddess," Kim takes a fun approach to computer talk and offers straight jargon advice on equipment and software. She was first introduced to computers at age 9 and graduated college early at age 19 with a bachelor of science degree in computer information systems from Arizona State University in 1985. An entrepreneur at a young age, she financed her education by teaching computer hardware and software training classes.
Kim is one of 10 innovative Arizona entrepreneurs chosen by a panel of independent judges. Recipients of the 12th Annual Arizona Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards(R) program were announced this evening at a gala dinner.
