Aries Research and Workstation Technologies Announce Strategic Alliance at SunWorld '95; Companies will design, manufacture, sell & support SPARC-based workstations and servers in U.S.


SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden , Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 23, 1995--At SunWorld '95 today, Aries Research, Inc. and Workstation Technologies, Inc. announced that, effective immediately, they are joining forces to design, manufacture, sell and support top quality, co-branded SPARC (Scalable Performance ARChitecture) A family of RISC CPUs from Sun that runs mostly under Sun's Solaris, but also under Linux and BSD operating systems. After development began in the mid-1980s by David Patterson of the University of California at Berkeley and Bill (TM) workstations and servers in the U.S.

Aries Research, Inc., Fremont, CA., is a major SPARC(TM)-compatible systems designer/manufacturer, and Workstation Technologies, Inc., Fremont, CA. and Salem, N.H., is one of the nation's leading SPARC system integrators and solution providers.

Through this coalition, Aries Research (Booth No. 720) and Workstation Technologies (Booth No. 1332) anticipate selling approximately 500 value-priced, state-of-the-art, 100% compatible, SPARC-based systems per month. Aries Research will design and manufacture the systems with technology licensed from SPARC(TM) Technology Business, a division of SunMicrosystems, Inc. Workstation Technologies will market and sell these systems, plus provide custom integration and support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  throughout the U.S.
