Ariel appoints Brian Hoerl president and chief operating officer.


CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 1996--Ariel Corporation (Nasdaq:ADSP ADSP - AppleTalk Data Stream Protocol ) today announced that Brian Hoerl has been appointed president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
 effective immediately.

Anthony M. Agnello, chairman of the board and chief executive officer previously held the president's title.

Brian Hoerl, 41, joined Ariel in November, 1993 as a vice president of sales before his promotion to chief operating officer earlier this year. Hoerl held various sales and engineering positions at Siemens, Northern Telecom and Intel prior to joining Ariel.

"This step reflects Ariel's rapid growth and its progress to maturation from an engineering centric to a market driven orientation. By Brian Hoerl assuming the duties of president, I will be able to focus my energies on leading Ariel in tandem with a very strong player who will run the day-to-day aspects of the company.
