Players begin by picking a picture and specifying how many pieces to cut. Each piece has the familiar little knobs and sockets of traditional interlocking jigsaw puzzles. There's extra fun on audio-capable systems, from the sounds of scissors scissors Cutting instrument or tool consisting of a pair of opposed metal blades that meet and cut when the handles at their ends are brought together. Modern scissors are of two types: the more usual pivoted blades have a rivet or screw connection between the cutting ends cutting out the pieces and the pieces clicking into place during play to the sound of an admiring crowd once the puzzle is complete. Players who choose from the more challenging ArtApart game options will appreciate its ability to save puzzles in progress, and resume them later. Argos also offers new Argos Gameware Entertainment Digest(TM), Volume I for Windows ($29.95). Entertainment Digest, Volume I includes Alien Checkers checkers, game for two players, known in England as draughts.
