Argonaut Relocation Services Launches Great Moves Program for General Motors Employees, Retirees and Families

DETROIT, Mich., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Argonaut Relocation Services Relocation services or "employee relocation" includes a range of internal business processes that are engaged to transfer employees (and often their families) or entire departments of a business to a new work location. , one of the leading relocation companies in the world, today initiated a free program offering assistance and savings for General Motors (NYSE NYSE

The Great Moves program, created by Argonaut exclusively for members of the General Motors family, provides a personalized program of real estate, mortgage and moving services for individuals and families. It is one of the largest real estate and moving services of its type in the country provided to a corporate base of more than one million employees, retirees and families. The Great Moves program provides professional one-on-one personal consultants to assist participants when encountering a real estate transaction.

The program is not available to GM employees who are being transferred under a company relocation program. Rather, Great Moves has been created to help employees and retirees with their own individualized family move that they choose to make whenever they wish.

The development of the program began with several focus groups with GM employees, retirees and real estate brokers to review and discuss the moving process. The participants agreed that all elements of a move are stressful. They were enthusiastic about a convenient service that could offer personal consultants, and suppliers screened for quality, performance and cost. Argonaut's goal was to design a program that addressed these needs but would not just be another referral program.

"We are very pleased to bring this program to the entire GM family," said GM Worldwide Real Estate Director Matt Cullen Matthew "Matt" Cullen (born November 2, 1976 in Virginia, Minnesota) is a professional ice hockey centre who currently plays for the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL. He is the older brother of Detroit Red Wings player Mark Cullen. . "Now, when employees and retirees are ready to change their primary residence or acquire a second home, or a make a move to a retirement community, Great Moves will simplify every stage of the process and provide bundled savings and additional value to the customers."

Argonaut's Great Moves consultants assist during all aspects of a General Motors employee or retiree move, including implementing a comprehensive marketing assistance plan to evaluate, list and market a home, recommending Argonaut "preferred" real estate brokers to assist in purchasing a new home, offering personalized real estate mortgage assistance through GMAC GMAC General Motors Acceptance Corporation

The Great Moves program also offers GM home buyers assistance in home financing through GMAC Mortgage and their Family First Program.

Greg Sugg, senior vice president of the GM Family Division of GMAC Mortgage, stated, "It's been two years since we introduced the Family First program, and during that time we have saved time and money for over 16,000 GM family members while assisting them with their home financing needs. We're looking forward to being part of the Great Moves program that will provide even greater value to GM family members who are planning to purchase a new home."

In addition, Great Moves also offers participants comprehensive title and settlement services through Lawyers Title Corporation.

When Great Moves clients plan a move to a new community, their personal consultant will provide assistance in learning about the new location's schools, transportation, recreation, shopping, health care, climate and other important factors. Destination consulting services are offered if the move is across the state or across the seas with great values for Great Moves clients.

GM employees and retirees benefit not only from the personalized service Argonaut offers, but also from the Great Moves Savings Selection. In addition to discounts on moving services and other service enhancements, Great Moves participants may be eligible to elect one of four ways to reduce the overall cost of their move:

The new GM Global Headquarters at The Renaissance Center:

Gregory commented on how Argonaut offers a unique perspective in the relocation industry. "Because of our affiliation with General Motors, Argonaut understands the expectations of a corporation and the relocation needs of individuals and families. In creating Great Moves, we were able to put all our experience to work to maximize the benefits of the program for the entire GM family."

Gregory also said that this new program will put Argonaut on a fast track to grow over the next five years. "As we continue to serve GM relocation needs and the GM family needs, we are also working toward increasing our corporate client base. As business has become more and more global over the last few years, the need for professional relocation services has dramatically increased.

Argonaut is already working with the GM Transition Team to provide its ongoing corporate relocation services for staff moving to GM's new global headquarters at Detroit's Renaissance Center. Great Moves consultants will also be available to those employees who do not qualify for the corporate relocation program but wish to move closer to the Renaissance Center. GM plans to relocate 8,000-9,000 employees to the Renaissance Center over the next few years.

Last year Argonaut Relocation Services became an independent company, an equally owned joint venture of General Motors Corporation and Lawyers Title Corporation, one of the nation's leading title insurance companies since 1925. Great Moves is the primary affinity marketing initiative created by Argonaut Relocation Services. The company plans on enhancing the program to continually provide greater value to GM employees, retirees and families.
