Argentine tango stars plan a visit.

A ballroom is a large room inside a building, the designated purpose of which is holding formal dances called balls.

The couple from Buenos Aires Buenos Aires (bwā`nəs ī`rēz, âr`ēz, Span. bwā`nōs ī`rās), city and federal district (1991 pop.  will headline a "milonga," or Argentine dance party, on Saturday at the Vet's Club's upstairs ballroom.

Having appeared in and choreographed dance scenes in several films - including "Tango Bar," "Naked Tango" and "Tango" - the Rivarolas are well-known throughout the world. The pair also will be teaching a series of workshops during their time in Eugene.

The live tango band Mood Area 52 will be accompanying the dancers at Saturday's performance, which also will feature flamenco flamenco, Spanish music and dance typical of the Gypsy, or gitano. Flamenco dancing is characterized by colorful costumes, intense and erotic movements, stamping of the feet (zapateado), and clapping of the hands (palmada  dancing. Ev Marcel Marcel

Marcel will offer a free tango lesson for beginners prior to Saturday's performance.

Also: A series of tango dance workshops will be held at In Shape Athletic Club, 2681 Willamette St.; at noon Saturday, the club hosts a free beginning tango lesson with Ev Marcel; Saturday and Sunday, the Rivarolas teach a beginner lesson at 1 p.m. and an intermediate- advanced lesson at 2 p.m.; cost is $15 per person for beginners and $30 per person for intermediate- advanced
