A total of 8,244 metres in 28 holes were drilled at the Veladero project during the 1997/1998 drilling season.

The work conducted at the Veladero Project during the past 1997/1998 drilling season has resulted in:

1. The evolutionof the project from early exploration to an inferred geological ge·ol·o·gy
n. pl. ge·ol·o·gies
1. The scientific study of the origin, history, and structure of the earth.

2. The structure of a specific region of the earth's crust.

3. A book on geology.

In the arts:

, gold-silver resource to an average depth of 300-350 metres and is presently being evaluated by external independent consultants. The rest of the Filo Federico Target is for the most part untested.

2. The substantial growth of mineralized min·er·al·ize
v. min·er·al·ized, min·er·al·iz·ing, min·er·al·iz·es

1. To convert to a mineral substance; petrify.

identified on sites distanced as far apart as 3 kilometres. The mineralized interval encountered at the SE (Amable) Target (193 metres of 1.49 gold) is consistent in terms of width and depth with the mineralized intervals found at Filo Federico 2.5 kilometres away. The overall size of the system exceeds 12 square kilometres Square kilometre (U.S. spelling: square kilometer), symbol km², is a decimal multiple of the SI unit of surface area, the square metre, one of the SI derived units. 1 km² is equal to:
  • 1,000,000 m²
  • 100 ha (hectare)
Conversely:
  • 1 m² = 0.
. The initial drilling performed at the SE (Amable) Target, which is adjacent to the Cerro Pelado In Mexican culture in society, pelado is "a term invented to describe a certain class of urban "bum" in Mexico in the 1920s."[1]

Mexico has a long tradition of urban poverty, beginning with the léperos
Target (as yet untested by drilling), favours the hypothesis that the Cerro Pelado target has a similar geological setting as the Filo Federico system and may host similar mineralization under its same "blanket" of steam heated alteration Modification; changing a thing without obliterating it.

An alteration is a variation made in the language or terms of a legal document that affects the rights and obligations of the parties to it.
and that eventually Filo Federico and Cerro Pelado could prove to be a single, large mineralized system.

In view of the Company's focus on the further development of the Veladero project, the Company has elected to drop a number of projects which were not expected to be subject to significant additional exploration. These projects are: La Poposa, Las Lenas, Mal Paso, Las Estacas, Agua Agua (ä`wä, ä`gwä), inactive volcano, 12,310 ft (3,752 m) high, S Guatemala. In 1541, climaxing several days of unceasing rain and earthquakes, a wall of water swept down from its slopes, completely destroying Ciudad Vieja.  Negra and Sierra de Pescado.
