Connections are hoping he can improve on last year's effort from Argentine challenger Tapatio, the GP Nacional (Derby) winner, who ran sixth behind Express Tour in the Group 3 event.

Insociable, trained by Guillermo Frenkel Santillan, has won only three times in nine attempts but also ran second to Ice Point in the GP Polla de Potrillos (2000 Guineas). He was scratched from the GP Jockey Club because of injury and also missed the GP Nacional.

Two of the southern hemisphere challengers for the UAE Derby, Lido Palace (Chile) and Mr Pleasentfar (Brazil), finished third and eighth respectively and went on to Grade 1 success in the States.

But it is doubtful Insociable is in the same class.
