Arescom and Alcatel Microelectronics Sign Agreement for ADSL Dynamite Product Development.


FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 1998--Arescom and Alcatel Microelectronics have signed an agreement under which Paris-based Alcatel Microelectronics will supply its DynaMiTe dynamite, explosive made from nitroglycerin and an inert, porous filler such as wood pulp, sawdust, kieselguhr, or some other absorbent material. The proportions vary in different kinds of dynamite; often ammonium nitrate or sodium nitrate is added. (TM) ADSL See DSL.

The agreement involves Alcatel's third generation automatic Rate Adaptive Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (communications, protocol) Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line - (ADSL, or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Loop) A form of Digital Subscriber Line in which the bandwidth available for downstream connection is significantly larger then for upstream.  (R-ADSL) modem chipset MTK-20131.

Arescom will use the DynaMiTe chipset in their forthcoming ADSL products. This new product family will build on Arescom's tradition of providing high-speed remote access products that are easy to configure and manage. These new products will offer customers an easy to configure router along with ATM UNI capabilities and the ultra-fast speeds and flexibility of the standards compliant DynaMiTe ADSL technology. These products will further Arescom's goal of providing customers with additional products to meet their diverse product and technology needs while providing unprecedented interoperability with the central office equipment from industry leading vendors.

The new Alcatel DynaMiTe modem kit (MTK-20131) combines the digital functions of the DMT modem and the ATM framer with Utopia interface into a single 0.35 micron technology Micron Technology ("Micron") NYSE: MU is a multinational company based in Boise, Idaho, USA, best known for producing many forms of semiconductor devices.
