) ("Arequipa" or the "Company") is pleased to announce assay results from the balance of the drilling completed to date on the Paron gold property located in Northern Peru. This program was designed to delineate the gold resource outlined in the 1994 drill program and bring this reserve into the proven and probable category, as well as to test the area under cover to the west of the currently outlined resource. To date 62 core holes totaling 2,670 meters have been drilled at Paron. In addition 3 exploration tunnels have been driven, several old tunnels have been sampled, numerous pits have been dug, and several hundred surface samples have been taken.

The last 54 meters of drill hole 100-10 on the line along the downdip edge contained mineralization averaging nearly 1 g/t, and bottomed at 90 meters in material assaying over 2 g/t. Due to the limited capacity of the drill rig it was not possible to take the hole deeper. An offset hole (100-11A) with a more powerful drill rig intersected 30 meters averaging 0.67 g/t in brecciated brec·ci·ate

Another offset hole (100-11B) intersected 72 meters averaging 0.67 g/t, (1.09 g/t if a single 21 g/t assay is included) 75 meters due west of the mineralization in 100-11A. The mineralization in this westernmost offset hole is in brecciated and silicified si·lic·i·fy

Reserve calculations are currently being prepared by an independent consultant. The reserves will be based on potential ore grade Ore grade is a measure that describes the concentration of a valuable natural material (such as metals or minerals) in its surrounding ore. Ore grade is used to assess the economic feasibility of a mining operation: the cost of extracting a natural material from its ore is directly  intercepts in 40 drill holes, 9 old tunnels, and one new tunnel. Cutoff grade is 0.5 g/t, and average thickness is 10 meters, with mineralization in many holes beginning at the surface.
