Arena snooker idea stuns player.


A COVENTRY man who played in the World Professional Snooker Championships said he would be 'amazed' if the competition moved to the Jaguar Arena.

As reported yesterday, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA, also known as the World Snooker Association) is the governing body of world snooker. It was founded in 1968 as the Professional Billiard Players' Association.  has approached Arena bosses about a possible move to Coventry.

The 38-year-old works at the Atack Snooker Club in Regent Street, Nuneaton.

He said: "I'd be amazed if it moved from the Crucible because it is a fabulous venue. It is the best place in the world to play.

"As regards going to watch world snooker it would be excellent (if it moved) but I'd be amazed.

"I've been out of the game for two years now so maybe I've missed something. Maybe there is the need for some extra revenue a move could create. I'm sure they could sell tickets."
