Area Yogis To Host Day-Long Yogathon Supporting John Kerry For President.

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Yogathon-For-Change To Be Held In Cooperation With Virginia Victory 2004, VA State Senator Patty Ticer (D-District 30), Representative Jim Moran (D-VA 8th), Other Politicos Expected to Attend

In a twist on traditional political fundraising, the founders of Samata Yoga Studio and Prasada Yoga, as well as other like-minded area yogis are hosting an all-day series of yoga classes to help raise money for the Virginia Victory 2004 Campaign, which supports John Kerry for president and Democratic candidates in Virginia. Calling on the Yoga principles of truth, peace and compassion, the yogathon emphasizes positive change. Attendees also will be able to register to vote during the yogathon. Several Virginia and local politicians, including Virginia State Senator Patty Ticer and Representative Jim Moran, are expected to participate in the event.

"Change is both inevitable and necessary," notes Gayle Fleming, founder of Samata Yoga Studio and co-host of the event. "It's also imperative that change occurs peacefully, and that only happens when like-minded people join together. Our goal is to foster a change grounded in the principles of Yoga."

The Yogathon will be held October 2, 2004 at the Barcroft Community House on South Buchanan Street in Arlington VA. Yogathon-For-Change runs from 9:00am - 5:30 pm in a series of six hour-long classes, with a half-hour break in between each class. Suggested donations are $25.00 per person per class.

Maureen Clyne, of Prasada Yoga states, "It's time for a change in our government, and this yogathon is about helping to bring about that change in a way that is fun, healthy and promotes the principles that we as a country should strive toward."
