PHILADELPHIA -- Ron Hoxter wants more people to mind their own business.

But it's not privacy that Hoxter's pitching; it's economic freedom.

Hoxter is President of Mill Creek Partners the area's fastest growing firm of its type, specializing in the sale of privately held businesses priced from $100,000 to $20 million. Hoxter's firm sold 35 businesses last year and this year Mill Creek plans to increase transactions by more that 50 percent. Why? Because Hoxter feels that the region's market for informed, broker-assisted business sales has hardly been tapped.

"As business brokers, we sell businesses, basically the physical assets of the business and goodwill. Goodwill is a key asset - valuable relationships with suppliers and customers, built up over years. Sometimes there is real estate, and as licensed real estate salespersons, we can sell the real estate as well. We've developed a system to manage the complexities of selling a business. We insure confidentiality for the seller while helping buyers select businesses giving them fair return on their investment."

From modern offices in bustling Manayunk, Hoxter overseas a staff of nine experienced brokers. "This is a people-business," he says. Hoxter, holds an MBA from Columbia University and is a New York State CPA. He's also a Certified Business Intermediary, the highest level of certification attainable in the business brokerage profession. He's been involved in mergers, acquisitions and business brokerage since 1997.
