Ardence Opens New Development, Testing & Demonstration Lab; Supports Product and Customer Initiative for Software-Streaming Platform.

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Ardence, Inc., today opened a state-of-the-art development, testing and demonstration lab, which will support product initiatives and customer interactions for its award-winning Ardence Software-Streaming Platform.

Ardence said the lab, which is located within its Route 128 global headquarters, currently has 250 Dell OptiPlex GX520 PCs running in the project's initial phase and will grow to a total of 500 Dell PCs early this year.

"This lab represents a significant strategic step forward for us because it allows our engineers to perform even more rigorous scalability testing and create the real-word environments encountered in enterprise deployments. We're using the lab to push our software platform to the limits because we know our customers will. And we're using it to identify where the challenges are and address them quickly," said Richard J. Davis, Chairman, President and CEO of Ardence, Inc.

Davis said the new lab "was particularly beneficial in our development and testing processes as we were bringing our Linux Boot Option to market as part of the latest release of our platform. Also, we are innovating and collaborating with Dell on a major deployment of Ardence-powered Dell SmartClients that are delivering improved desktop reliability, security and management for the U.S. Air Force in Europe, so increasing our knowledge and understanding of Dell hardware is also a huge benefit the lab offers."

In December, Ardence released version 3.5 of the Ardence Software-Streaming Platform, adding support for several popular Linux distributions in addition to a number of functionality enhancements. By streaming operating systems and applications on-demand from network storage, the Ardence platform enables companies to centralize IT security and management while providing users with reliability, speed and flexibility - at a cost far less than any comparable approach. The Ardence platform is deployed world-wide in call centers, in education, in secure government facilities and in data centers.

Davis said the 250 PCs running in the lab "is a good start, but we're pushing hard to get the total up to 500 as we make use of the lab as a way to better engage with our customer and prospects."

The lab is an excellent vehicle to demonstrate and drive home those options. For potential customers who are skeptical of that claim, the lab gives us an opportunity to prove just how quickly Ardence can do these things," he said.

Additionally, Davis said the lab will be an excellent way to show the speed and ease with which PCs can be re-purposed using the Ardence platform. "Being able to show 250 or 500 PCs running Windows and then shutting down a segment of them and simply rebooting them on the Linux operating system gives people a sense of the possibilities. That's in fact how easy it is, but seeing is believing," said Davis.
