LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 2004

Arden Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:ARDNA), the parent company of Gelson's Markets, announced that in ongoing discussions with the unions representing the United Food and Commercial Workers The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union is a labor union representing approximately 1.4 million workers in the United States and Canada in many industries, including agriculture, health care, meatpacking, poultry and food processing, manufacturing, textile and  ("UFCW UFCW United Food and Commercial Workers "), the unions and the Company have met and agreed on a contract proposal that will be put to a ratification The confirmation or adoption of an act that has already been performed.
