(ACAT/NASDAQ) today reported results for the second quarter ended September 30, 1996 and its board of directors declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of $0.06 per share, payable on December 3, 1996 to shareholders of record on November 18, 1996. Net sales Net Sales The amount a seller receives from the buyer after costs associated with the sale are deducted. Notes: This amount is calculated by subtracting the following items from gross sales: merchandise returned for credit, allowances for damaged or missing goods, freight increased 7% to $177,925,000 for the second quarter ended September 30, 1996, from $166,059,000 for the same period last year. Net earnings were $18,587,000, or $0.63 per share, for the second quarter, compared with net earnings of $17,888,000, or $0.60 per share, for the second quarter of fiscal 1996. For the six month period ended September 30, 1996, net sales increased 17% to $267,051,000 from $227,818,000 for the same period last year. Net earnings were $19,589,000, or $0.66 per share, for the first half of fiscal 1997, compared with net earnings of $13,620,000, or $0.46 per share, for the first six months of fiscal 1996.
