SilverStream Software today announced that Archon Group, an international real estate services and advisory company owned by Goldman Sachs, has selected SilverStream's Application Server to build and deploy an enterprise-wide global Intranet. The Intranet will provide the company's 1,000+ employees worldwide with access to essential data for buying and managing real estate and loan assets twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

With billions of dollars worth of assets managed from offices around the world, it is imperative that Archon track its investments. The company first thought to replicate its database and other business systems in each office, but that proved time-intensive and expensive. Archon, instead, implemented a Web-based enterprise business application that runs over the company's Intranet. Using the SilverStream Application Server as its foundation, Archon was able to centralize its database - a virtual data warehouse of assets - as well as accounting, loan servicing, budgeting and other mission-critical systems.

Accessed by each employee through a start-up screen or home-page, the SilverStream Intranet enables Archon to make educated business decisions. Employees can track assets, evaluate each asset's ROI and determine when to buy and sell.
