A runaway truck loaded with gas exploded in a Mediterranean coastal camp site near Tarragone, Spain, yesterday killing 188 people and injuring up to 600.

A fireball fireball, very bright meteor leaving a trail in the sky that can remain visible for several minutes; often a distinct sound, perhaps caused by very low frequency radio waves, is associated with it.  seared the camp. The blast scattered charred bodies across 1,000 yards leaving a crater 20 yards wide.

Yesterday was a black day for Birmingham's regular Sunday evening Bull Ring orators. They were surrounded by the biggest audience most could remember -and hardly anyone was listening to them.

For last night there was a bigger attraction, Dr Donald Soper, president of the Methodist Conference who has been claimed as the world's greatest open-air speaker.
