One in a series of books by Watson-Guptill Publications, this exercise in the integration of the visual and verbal combines 30 paintings from the National Gallery, London London, city, Canada
London, city (1991 pop. 303,165), SE Ont., Canada, on the Thames River. The site was chosen in 1792 by Governor Simcoe to be the capital of Upper Canada, but York was made capital instead. London was settled in 1826.

Paintings include works by Breughel, Mantegna, Monet, Pissarro, Turner, and Vermeer, and are reproduced in their entirety The whole, in contradistinction to a moiety or part only. When land is conveyed to Husband and Wife, they do not take by moieties, but both are seised of the entirety.  as well as further represented by several views of details from the artwork. These pleasant paintings enhance the descriptive powers of literature while also attending the art of architecture.
