Architectural Remnants and Cemeteries Unearthed at Tal al-Mushrafa in Homs.


Homs, Central Syria, (SANA)- The national archeological mission working at the site of Tal al-Mushrafa in the Central Syrian city of Homs uncovered important architectural remnants of residential groupings, as well as cemeteries dating back to the Byzantine Era.

A building with lime-plastered floors, under which two stone tombs including a group of skeletons inside wooden boxes, was also unearthed Unearthed is the name of a Triple J project to find and "dig up" (hence the name) hidden talent in regional Australia.

Unearthed has had three incarnations - they first visited each region of Australia where Triple J had a transmitter - 41 regions in all.

Head of Quneitra Archeology Department Abdullah Murei said on Tuesday that the tomb, uncovered by an excavation mission affiliated with the Department, said that the tomb which was uncovered in the village of Ein Noorieh, 5 kilometers east of Khan Arnabeh, dates back to 4000 years B.C. He added the tomb which is 370 x 310 Cm, and 110 Cm in height was made of semi-oval basalt basalt (bəsôlt`, băs`ôlt), fine-grained rock of volcanic origin, dark gray, dark green, brown, reddish, or black in color. Basalt is an igneous rock, i.e., one that has congealed from a molten state.  stone,.
