Advertisers were awarded for advertisements that ran in Architectural Record's January, February or March 2002 issues. The advertisements were evaluated for the best combination of information and graphics. Of 200 ads evaluated, 20 will be recognized for communicating effectively to the architecture profession. Eight advertisers were cited as "Winners" and 12 advertisers received "Honorable Mention" awards. Award-winning ads were selected in three size categories: full page, spread and special series.

"Architects value good advertising for the information it provides, they respect and enjoy interesting graphics, and they appreciate the companies that provide effective advertising messages in their professional journal," said Jay McGraw IV, Group Publisher of McGraw-Hill Publications Group which includes Architectural Record. "As the voice of the profession, it is important for Record to recognize those advertisers who communicate clearly, and also educate other advertisers on how to develop ads which will ultimately boost their sales."
