Architects jump on brand wagon with high profile lecture series.

The series focuses on brand architecture, which first transformed the retail world with flagship stores such as NikeTown, BMW BMW

German automaker. Founded as an aircraft engine manufacturer in 1916, the company assumed the name Bayerische Motoren Werke and became known for its high-speed motorcycles in the 1920s.
 World and Prada, and has since become the mandate for real estate developers that have realized that star-caliber architects and brand strategies can add dollar value to their projects.

Designed to encourage candid discussion within the New York community, panelists include some of the most pertinent voices in contemporary architecture, real estate, and branding.

The series was launched on Tuesday, January 30 with a discussion on how residential buildings such as Ian Schrager's 40 Bond and 50 Gramercy Park Gramercy Park (sometimes misspelled as Grammercy) is a small, fenced-in private park in the Gramercy neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, New York State[1].  North distinguish themselves as "special events" through the integration of stylish amenities that reinvent contemporary lifestyles and set new consumer trends.

"Icon as Brand" is the next panel in the series, which will take a look at icon-branded buildings which act as distinct markers within Manhattan's grid.

The panel--on Monday, February 26--will be hosted on by Ned Cramer, editor of Architect magazine, featuring speakers such as Frank Sciame, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of F.J. Sciame Construction, who among other projects, will discuss his proposal for the 835-foot-tall townhouses in the sky, designed by Santiago Calatrava Santiago Calatrava Valls (born July 28, 1951) is an internationally recognized and award-winning Spanish architect and structural engineer whose principal office is in Zurich, Switzerland. . Other guests include Mustafa Abadan, AIA, design partner at the corporate design firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, which designed the Time Warner Center The Time Warner Center is a mixed-use skyscraper developed by The Related Companies in New York City. Its design, by David Childs and Mustafa Kemal Abadan of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, consists of two 229 m (750 ft) towers bridged by a multi-story atrium containing upscale retail , 7 World Trade Center, and the Freedom Tower.

Other speakers include James Biber, partner at Pentagram, Mario Natarelli, chief brand officer at Futurebrand, and architect Lindy lin·dy or Lin·dy

On Wednesday, March 28, architect and author Michael Sorkin will host "Strategy as Brand", a panel that will feature Angelo Cosentini, the developer of Blue, an unusuall6-story residential condominium building at 105 Norfolk Street on the Lower East Side, designed by star architect Bernard Tschumi, who was also the former dean at the School of Architecture at Columbia University.

Daniel Libeskind will speak on the fourth Brandism panel, "Signature as Brand" on Tuesday, April 24, on his current residential project in Union City, N.J. and other major developments in the Middle East and Europe.

The fifth panel on May 23 focuses on "Brand as Sustainability", discussing state-of-the art green building strategies and the series will conclude on June 27 with a discussion on the future of architecture, identity, and community focusing on strategies on how marketers, real estate developers and architects might collaborate more effectively to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment.

All events will take place at the Center for Architecture, 536 La Guardia Place, New York, N.Y. 10012 at 6pm.
