Architect honored with Lifetime Achievement Award.

 office of the international architectural firm Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, P.C., was recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the New York Society of Architects at its 89th Annual Awards ceremony.

According to NYSA, the oldest independent local architectural society in the City of New York, Davis was recognized for "his leadership and unique influence in shaping and guiding HOK to an established position of design excellence and professional recognition among the major architectural firms in the region."

"I am truly grateful to NYSA for this honor. I, in turn, would like to honor my colleagues at Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, for their willingness to challenge boundaries and tirelessly pursue a higher level of achievement," Davis said.

Past winners of the award include Philip Johnson (1993), Pei Cobb Freed &Partners (1992), Beyer Blinder Belle (1991), Gwathmey Siegel Architects (1990) and Max Abramovitz (1987).

As Principal-in-Charge for HOK in New York, Davis provides the managerial overview of all projects to ensure their compliance to pre-established design requirements, budgets and schedules and client goals. All project directors in the New York office report to Davis and he, in turn, provides regular briefings on operations to HOK's Office of the Chairman. Davis maintains senior management overview of projects and conducts periodic Quality Review Committee meetings.

He is also a well-respected authority in health care and research and development facility planning and design, and a member of HOK's Board of Directors.

Among the projects Davis has spearheaded are: Viacom Group Facilities Offices for MTV, Paramount and Simon & Schuster Simon & Schuster

The APA was formed in 1978 when two separate professional planning organizations, the American Institute of Planners and the American  - and the Yankee Stadium Community Development Master Plan.

Davis is a Registered Architect in Massachusetts, New York, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, and Washington, D.C. He is also a fellow of the Institute for Urban Design, a NACORE NACORE National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives

 fellow and the vice president and president-elect of the American Institute of Architects The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is a professional organization for architects in the United States. Organized in 1857, the Institute conducts various activities and programs to support the profession and enhance its public image, including periodically awarding the AIA . In addition, Davis is a sustaining member of the Municipal Art Society and is the director of the University of Texas School of Architecture The University of Texas School of Architecture is a college within The University of Texas at Austin and has its major facilities located on the main campus in Austin, Texas. The school offers degrees in areas such as architecture and design.  Advisory Board.

The New York Society of Architects was established in 1905 and since 1911 has published the NYC Building Laws Manual, the code publication of choice for most practicing professionals. The Society has also evolved into a resource center to meet the needs of its members and the community at large. Other individuals receiving awards at NYSA's gala included Joel A. Miele, Sr., P.E., the New York City Commissioner of Buildings, Joseph B. Rose, Chairman of the City Planning Commission, and Randolph R. Croxton of the Croxton Collaborative.
