Archbishop safe.Mosul -- The Syrian-Catholic Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa Basile Georges Casmoussa (born 25 October, 1938) is the Syrian Catholic archbishop of Mosul, Iraq. He was, according to Vatican records, born in Iraq. Casmoussa was ordained as a priest in June 1962 and worked for three decades as the editor of Christian Source of Mosul, Iraq, says that he was kidnapped by mistake, was never mistreated, and was released as soon as his captors realized that he was a Catholic bishop.
