Archbishop's assistant elected new suffragan. (People).

Archdeacon Colin Johnson Colin Johnson is the current Anglican Bishop of Toronto. He is an alumnus of Trinity College in the University of Toronto.

The Right Reverend Colin Robert Johnson is the 11th Diocesan Bishop of Toronto [1].

It is the largest Anglican diocese in Canada and one of the largest in North America in terms of numbers of parishioners, clergy and parishes,  on the third ballot at St. James' Cathedral on April 26.

These are to be distinguished from suffragan bishops, assistant bishops, coadjutor bishops, Auxiliary Bishops, or metropolitans or primates.  of Toronto, to lead one of the diocese's five episcopal areas in the near future. For the past 11 years, Mr. Johnson has served as executive assistant to Archbishop Finlay.

Archdeacon Johnson is a resident of Ajax, Ont. and his home parish is St. Martin's, Bay Ridges in Pickering, Ont. He has also been a member of three General Synods. At General Synod 2001, he served as chair of the nominating committee.

The diocese of Toronto is the largest Anglican diocese in Canada with more than 200 parishes. Also nominated for election were Canon Paul Feheley of Oshawa, Rev. Peter Fenty of Bramalea, Canon Linda Nicholls of Thornhill, Canon Philip Poole of Aurora, Rev. Harold Roberts of Mississippi, Canon Greg Symmes of Bolton and Rev. Michael Wright of Peterborough.
