ArcSys establishes product management group, names Chi-Ping Hsu vice president.SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 1995--ArcSys Inc. Monday announced the establishment of a product management group and named Dr. Chi-Ping Hsu, 39, to head the group as vice president of product management. Hsu's group is responsible for product marketing, planning, packaging, release and technical support for ArcSys' current IC layout automation products, ArcCell and ArcGate, and ArcSys' future products, which will further automate the design of deep submicron integrated circuits Integrated circuits Miniature electronic circuits produced within and upon a single semiconductor crystal, usually silicon. Integrated circuits range in complexity from simple logic circuits and amplifiers, about 1/20 in. (1. (ICs). "ArcSys is rapidly responding to the rising market demand for sophisticated IC design automation (ICDA ICDA abbr. International Classification of Diseases, Adapted for Use in the United States ) tools and methodologies," said Gerald C. Hsu, ArcSys president and chief executive officer (no relation to Dr. Hsu). "We just completed our third fiscal year of product shipments, with worldwide bookings in excess of seven times more than the previous year. Chi-Ping's proven ability to build world-class product marketing and technical support teams is exactly what ArcSys needs at this critical stage in the company." Hsu has more than 12 years of experience in ICDA. He was most recently director of R&D for entry systems at Quickturn Design Systems, responsible for creating Quickturn's lower-cost "Logic Animator" emulation system from concept to production within one year. He was previously director of technical marketing at Pie Design Systems, where he played a major role in shaping the direction of Pie's product and technical strategy. Pie and Quickturn merged in 1993. Prior to Pie, Hsu was at Cadence Design Systems (company) Cadence Design Systems - A company that sells electronic design automation software and services. http://cadence.com/. While at Cadence he lead the development of Cadence's cell-based place and route product, Cell3 Ensemble, as well as Gate Ensemble, a sea-of-gates place and route system, and Preview, and IC floorplanner. Hsu holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering electrical engineering: see engineering. electrical engineering Branch of engineering concerned with the practical applications of electricity in all its forms, including those of electronics. and computer science from University of California, Berkeley The University of California, Berkeley is a public research university located in Berkeley, California, United States. Commonly referred to as UC Berkeley, Berkeley and Cal , and a B.S. in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University National Taiwan University (Traditional Chinese: 國立臺灣大學; Simplified Chinese: 国立台湾大学 . He has published more than 20 technical papers related to ICDA. ArcSys Inc. develops, markets and supports integrated circuit integrated circuit (IC), electronic circuit built on a semiconductor substrate, usually one of single-crystal silicon. The circuit, often called a chip, is packaged in a hermetically sealed case or a nonhermetic plastic capsule, with leads extending from it for design automation (ICDA) software for deep submicron ICs, microprocessors, microcontrollers, application-specific standard products (ASSPs) and complex application-specific integrated circuits (hardware) Application-Specific Integrated Circuit - (ASIC) An integrated circuit designed to perform a particular function by defining the interconnection of a set of basic circuit building blocks drawn from a library provided by the circuit manufacturer. (ASICs). ArcSys' products lower IC development costs by reducing die size, reduce time to market by shortening the physical design cycle and provide more competitive, higher-performance chips.
