ArcSoft's solution uses a consumer-friendly interface, similar to those found in set-top DVD players and PC applications, to give users the ability to view content over their home network without purchasing specialized hardware. Using a DVD player which has the ArcSoft solution, consumers can access the PC based multimedia content and enjoy it throughout his or her house without having to purchase expensive proprietary, non-standard electronics or struggle to connect multiple media devices or systems. ArcSoft's solution is designed to leverage the power of the PC to provide content to the DVD player in a format the DVD player can understand via a wired, wireless or power line based home network. This method effectively uses both the PC as a media content storage and management tool and the DVD player as a flexible, feature-rich, easy-to-use playback device.
