Arc Second Inc. is Acquired by Metris; The Northern Virginia Based Company that Developed Indoor GPS(TM) Technology Will Become Part of a Global Metrology Powerhouse.


DULLES, Va. -- Arc Second, Inc., announced today that is has been acquired by Belgium-based Metris. Arc Second, which traces its beginnings to research begun at Virginia Tech, pioneered development of Indoor GPS technology. The company's products and technologies are currently utilized in the aerospace, automotive, robotics robotics, science and technology of general purpose, programmable machine systems. Contrary to the popular fiction image of robots as ambulatory machines of human appearance capable of performing almost any task, most robotic systems are anchored to fixed positions  as well as a variety of other industrial markets.
