Data Warehousing and Multidimensional Databases

that provides a historical perspective of information for decision support applications. A multidimensional database server acts as an analytical data mart for the data warehouse, taking subsets of warehouse data and temporarily staging it to support applications like forecasting, financial reporting, product profitability, margin analysis or budgeting. Essbase enables business analysts and managers to combine historical warehouse data with spreadsheet-based business projections for a complete analytical picture of the business.
