Arbitron Promotes Brad Bedford to Vice President of Asian Marketing.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2000

The Arbitron Company has announced the promotion of Brad Bedford to vice president of Asian Marketing.

In his newly appointed position, Mr. Bedford will be responsible for marketing Arbitron's services to Asian countries, focusing on Japan. In the past two years, Mr. Bedford has been meeting with broadcasters and agencies throughout Asia. In addition, Mr. Bedford has hosted many groups of Japanese visitors involved in broadcasting and toured with them around the country and enhanced their understanding of American media markets.

Mr. Bedford's promotion comes after recognition of his key role in marketing Arbitron's services to Japanese clients. In addition to his new responsibilities, he will continue to manage the West Coast division of radio station services.

Mr. Bedford was instrumental in The Arbitron Company being selected by the National Association of Commercial Broadcasters in Japan (NAB-J) to conduct a study of the Japanese consumer: Media Targeting 2000-Japan. The NAB-J formally presented the study in Tokyo and Osaka during the first week of June and it was enthusiastically received by some 1,000 broadcasters, advertisers and advertising agencies (The English language English language, member of the West Germanic group of the Germanic subfamily of the Indo-European family of languages (see Germanic languages). This landmark study, which profiled the Japanese consumers and their media consumption, is similar to one conducted by Arbitron in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. Mr. Bedford worked collaboratively with Japanese broadcasters to ensure that all aspects of the research were suitable to the Japanese marketplace. He supervised the design and fielding of the report, including building the structure of the questionnaire as well as the sample and execution of the analysis.

A 19-year veteran of Arbitron, Mr. Bedford began his career as a salesperson in Arbitron's Chicago office.
