About the Portable People Meter

The Portable People Meter system is a unique audience measurement system that gathers what consumers listen to on the radio and the Internet as well as what consumers watch on Free-To-Air and subscription television. Consumers wear a small, cell phone-sized meter throughout the day. The meter detects and collects data that identifies the source of inaudible identification codes that can be embedded in the audio portion of any transmission. The PPM technology has been tested in a dozen countries and is being deployed for commercial use today in Canada and Belgium.
