Aran Concerto in Navan trial for Powers Gold Cup.

ARAN CONCERTO is set to return to action at Navan on Saturday, when he will go on trial for the Grade 1 Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse's Easter meeting, writes Tony O'Hehir.

Trainer Noel Meade yesterday confirmed the eight-year-old an intended runner in the 2m Kilberry Novice Chase, for which there are 21 entries.

A seven-length winner over 2m4f on his debut over fences at Navan in December, Aran Concerto has not run since and plans to aim him at the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival The Cheltenham Festival is the most prestigious meeting in the National Hunt racing calendar in the United Kingdom and has race prize money second only to the Grand National.  were abandoned in January.

Meade said: "We had to give him a break after we weren't happy with him leading up to the Drinmore in November.

"We decided that he wouldn't be ready for Cheltenham, but everything has gone well with him recently. The Powers Gold Cup is the race I'd like to aim him at."

Winner of three races as a novice hurdler during the 2006-2007 season, in which he was sent off favourite for the Ballymore Properties Novices' Hurdle The Ballymore Properties Novices' Hurdle is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race in the United Kingdom for four-year-old and above novices. It is run over a distance of 2 miles 5 furlongs (4,225 metres) on the Old Course at Cheltenham Racecourse during the Cheltenham Festival in  at Cheltenham, Aran Concerto missed the following season because of injury.

Saturday's Grade 3 Irish Form Book An Uaimh An Uaimh, Republic of Ireland: see Navan.  Chase has attracted 11 entries, including Conna Castle andWatson Lake.
