The well, situated approximately 40km southeast of the Greater Heglig Heglig (also spelled Heglieg) is a small town in the West Kurdufan state in central Sudan, near the border to Southern Sudan. The results of this drilling confirm that Arakis has made a major new field discovery and has defined a new exploration fairway parallel to the eastern edge of the Muglad Basin. El Toor 62a was located to test the Bentiu and shallower formations involved in a very large fault bounded structure paralleling the eastern edge of the Muglad Basin. The structure typifies a significant trend of up to the basin edge normal faults mapped throughout this area. This is the first of these types of structures drilled on the concession. The drilling rig has been moved back to the Toma South field to commence drilling the Toma South 21d confirmation well, which is a step out well located 3km (1.8 miles) from the previously drilled Toma South 02/9b discovery well, 29 km (17.4 miles) southeast of the Heglig base camp.
